The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to implement the court judgement allowing political appointees to run for office without resigning.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, made the government’s position known in a statement Friday night.

The Senate had earlier unianimously rejected Electoral Act Amendment Bill sent by the Preident, Major General Muhammadu Buhari . Section 84 of the Act specifically reads, “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”

These men we. Chaiiii

Seeing how eager Malami is in gazetting this judgment just affirms that he's the mastermind behind the judgment. We never heard of any suit filed before any court, all of a sudden,we heard a judgment. I'll continue to ask who the defendants to the case were bc NASS wasn't notified

Wait oo; so a judge can wake up one day in Nigeria & order the AGF to delete any section of the constitution? Buhari why? Why are you embarrassing Nigeria nah?

Ignorance is a big problem in Nigeria.... just look at the number of comments and yet none has the real knowledge of the facts of the subject matter. It's just unfortunate....

Someone saw lady justice pushed down, her blindfold removed and the scale broken….. this is it. Justice has fallen in the streets

Nigeria Judiciary is the cause of Nigeria problems.

MY TAKE HOME, ASAP👇

Finally, they are going to buried this country very soon. Why would you allowed appointees to contest an elections. If they wanted to steal they used developed country as an example but when they wanted to carry out their evils they won't used best practices

This people actually believe they own the country

Hope they've serve INEC that judgement, because hmmmm

Law and the justice system is our problem, it allows all forms od impunity and corruption, its has been court rulings over results of election.. Not court aims to amend a bill that didn't oass approval.. Just to secure interests of selected persons. This is becoming clearer

😂 the law is the law.

Judiciary is our problem

Is laughable thought, a referee now skipper of his refereeing status, my question is that if judiciary superb such power where are they the same act went & stayed NASS for several time? It means there was no need to do amendment since judiciary can amend! We should be careful

You guys will see action on this court ruling to remove electoral act section barring Buhari ministers from contesting but the court ruling that awarded 5 billion to Nnamdi Kanu and 20 billion to Sunday Igboho will not be obeyed.

So some people can just manipulate the judiciary to change an “ACT” overnight to suit their own personal ambition. Is this a country?

This is total rubbish, let them resign before contesting, with this they will not take there position seriously, because they can run back to it if they lose.

Honestly this country is a joke....this can only happen here in Nigeria, infact we are in a sorry stage, my question is how do we get ourselves in this position?

This law eh!!! is it the English or people just interpret to suit themselves in this country.

Political appointee dictating for elected lawmaker Lawlessness has become normal in Nigeria

Quick to effect court order that allows your impunity it fir citizens no😂😂😂😂

That will be a serious breach! An act of parliament can only be amended by parliament. It's as simple as that.

Who's FG, who's Malami?

Ok

I said it, this Fulani man was up to something, he doesn’t want to resign but wants to contest. That court order won’t stand
