BREAKING: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's battle to avoid extradition to the United States will go to Britain's Supreme Court after he was granted the right to appeal a lower court ruling. 9News READ MORE:

The High Court in London on Monday allowed Assange to appeal its decision that he could be sent to the US to stand trial on espionage charges.

Last month, the High Court overturned the lower court's decision. High Court justices Ian Burnett and Timothy Holroyd said the American promises were enough to guarantee Assange would be treated humanely. They argued the US government's pledge Assange wouldn't be subjected to extreme conditions was meaningless because it was conditional and could be changed at the discretion of American authorities.Buildings are reflected in the window as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is taken from court, where he appeared on charges of jumping British bail seven years ago, in London, on Wednesday May 1, 2019.
