Momena Shoma had a 'strange smile' on her face and was seen laughing after trying to drive a pair of garden shears into a fellow inmate's neck, the Supreme Court of Victoria hears.

A convicted jihadi had a "strange smile" on her face and was seen laughing after trying to drive a pair of garden shears into a fellow inmate's neck, later telling investigators that she was only pretending to be deradicalised.

"The stupid girl just, I don't know what she does, she falls off the couch and runs away outside. Loser. Coward. Just stop so that I can kill you," Shoma later told investigators. "The accused was then secured in a holding cell within Elliot Unit where she was observed by staff to be happy and laughing."Shoma later made full admissions to the crime, telling investigators that she was a soldier of the Islamic State terrorist group, had been planning the attack for some time, and was aiming for her victim's spine."I would have killed her, stabbed her to death, that was my intention.

The court heard investigators later found a diary entry in her cell, dated October 2020, that said: "Now or never, just go for it."This is the second time that Shoma has been hauled before the Supreme Court for an IS-inspired attack.

A person of faith. She does what she does in the name of God. She believes it is the right thing to do, and she is locked up because of what she has done. She is a danger to others. She's had her day in court, and is justly imprisoned.
