Democrats excoriate Supreme Court decision on eviction moratorium: 'Arbitrary and cruel'

The current moratorium, which was imposed in early August, had been due to expire in early October.

“Time is of the essence,” she said. “As we all agree, eviction is a horror that no family should ever have to experience: cribs and personal belongings on the street, children in fear and distress and parents struggling to find basic shelter.” “As your fellow colleagues, we implore you to act with the highest levels of urgency to advance a permanent legislative solution in a must pass legislative vehicle in order to extend the life-saving federal eviction moratorium for the duration of the deadly global health crisis,” the lawmakers wrote.

What’s cruel is saving your money to buy a rental property and not be a slum lord… only to get screwed by people not having to pay while still having to pay for repairs and taxes on said investment. Knowing the place will be trashed when they finally leave.

No it isn’t. Landlord s are hurting too.

There’s 3 branches of government for a reason. Pass some laws and they won’t have to rule on executive orders 🤷🏽‍♂️

Biden was not bow his head in empathy. He got asked a question he could not answer from Peter Doocy. Biden wanted Doocy to agree with him that this was Trumps fault. When Doocy stood his ground. Biden wanted to go on a rant. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out

Wouldn't now be a good time to do something about enlarging the court?

Supreme Court Blocks New Eviction MoratoriumThe action represents a legal blow against the ban the Biden administration imposed this month despite questions about its legality. I am all for helping people. However, The ban on evictions should never have lasted this long. It will only make the situation 1000x worst than it would have been if this were short term as intended. Sadly, I expect it will be horrible in some areas. What Kavanaugh said earlier
