A Kano State High Court on Friday restrained the state House of Assembly from taking any further action on the complaints against the suspended Chairman of the State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Rimingado.
The court made the interim order following a suit filed by Rimingado against the Kano Assembly, the state’s Attorney General, the Accountant General and the ad hoc committee set up by the assembly to probe the complaints. Justice Sanusi Ma’aji said the Assembly must suspend action on the case pending the determination of the substantive suit filed by Rimingado.
The judge also ordered an accelerated hearing of the suit, adding that court papers be served on the respondents to the attorney general’s office. Justice Ma’aji granted the order after entertaining an ex parte application filed by Rimingado through his plaintiff’s legal team, led by M. K. Umar.
