Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has pushed through controversial laws designed to restrict what he calls ‘homosexual propaganda’ in a move supporters say will protect family values.

Mr Orbán’s new law and a referendum designed to confirm it have put him at odds with the European Union. Mr Orbán is facing a parliamentary election next year and while some believe the move will stunt his election prospects the Prime Minister claims he is at his best when fighting an enemy.
