All of the recent GOP restrictions tested in the poll garner more opposition than support, while all of the reforms from a recent Democratic proposal attract more support than opposition.

. In contrast to the Texas bill and others like it, all of Manchin’s provisions attract more support than opposition, including:“banning partisan gerrymandering, the practice by which politicians redraw congressional districts to help their own party win” “requiring voters to show some form of identification before casting a ballot, such as a utility bill with their name and address on it”

“blocking new election laws enacted by state or local governments with a history of racist election practices until those laws are approved by federal courts or the Department of Justice” When asked if they would favor or oppose a bill that includes all of these reforms, just 17 percent of Americans say they would oppose it. The rest either say they would favor it or that they’re not sure .

Demonstrators outside the Texas state Capitol on the first day of the Legislature’s special session on July 8 in Austin. Beyond that uncertainty, the other problem for Democrats is that Senate Republicans have already vowed to oppose Manchin’s compromise, meaning the only path forward would involve circumventing the 60-vote threshold required to break a filibuster and passing the bill with a simple majority vote of 51 Democrats —.

In other words, Democrats have a more popular voting plan than Republicans. But they don’t have the votes in the Senate to pass it — or the kind of decisive public support that could compel those votes. The Yahoo News survey was conducted by YouGov using a nationally representative sample of 1,715 U.S. adults interviewed online from July 13 to 15, 2021. This sample was weighted according to gender, age, race and education based on the American Community Survey, conducted by the U.S.

Polls also show they are vastly in favor of voter IDs. But sure, only cherry pick the polls that suits your narrative.

good job, Yahoo !!!! 8 likes in 2 hours.

I waited awhile before deciding.....but is most def biased toward Dem policies. fakenews is well earned. Here's a sample story...

this might be valid if only 'yougov' survey site wasn't a democratic biased survey site. I answer the yougov surveys and have been kicked out of a survey for my conservative values. they tout a cross section of America for their sampling , 1715 out of 330 million , fair survey?

Poll: Freedom loving, sensible Americans prefer Democrat voting reforms. Vote Democrat in ALL elections.

There is not a single thing in that bill that restricts voting. All common sense provisions that protect the integrity of elections. Even CNN admits it.
