“The Commissioner has reassured me, and did so again this morning, that discretion will continue to be applied by Gardaí in their engagements with licensed premises. The Commissioner will be sending a communication out across the Garda organisation this morning to that effect,” Humphreys said. “Licencing law is a complex area but I have spoken to the Attorney General this morning and we will take further action if necessary,” she said.

Want to sit on a stool on a footpath to eat and drink? No thanks!!

What does she mean 'if necessary'? Has she forgotten she is part of the government who told us that our summer will be outdoors? This whole thing is becoming a frigging joke. Wait till the foreign media get hold of it.

Usual dysfunctional clarity from government again and again... Taoiseach says one thing ...Varadkar says different ...Coveney half says things just to put a word in ...same with NPHET.. Headless corrupt dysfunctional vindictive government.

Gardaí warn that alcohol licences may not cover on-street service by pubs and restaurantsGardaí to 'use discretion' after warning that alcohol licences do not cover on-street service by pubs and restaurants Well that's a really, really terrible idea. Go and arrest them, hassle them as you did with the aged in Churches. It is the Law, no discretion, enforce Police state. Leave people alone.
