The Republican plaintiffs had been seeking to have votes made through the state’s drive-thru program discounted on the basis that it’s an illegal expansion of curbside voting which violates the Constitution and the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins has defended the drive-thru voting program as safe and necessary amid the pandemic, saying: “We know that the law is on our side.”
