The Trump administration is refusing to accept new applications while it undertakes a 'comprehensive review' of DACA — despite a ruling from the Supreme Court that blocked President Trump’s effort to end the program last month.

The Trump administration on Tuesday continued its push to roll back DACA — the program that protects young immigrants brought to the country illegally as children — by refusing to accept new applicants.

"I have concluded that the DACA policy, at a minimum, presents serious policy concerns that may warrant its full rescission," said Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf in a memo explaining the administration's decision. "It is unconscionable for the Trump administration to circumvent the rulings of a federal court in order to once again thrust into uncertainty the families and communities who rely on DACA to stay together and for protection from unjust deportations," said Vanessa Esparza-Lopez, an attorney at the National Immigrant Justice Center in Chicago.

Today, the White House defended the decision not to accept new DACA applications on a call with reporters. The Trump administration has long argued that DACA was created illegally by President Obama, but no court has ever reached a final conclusion on that question. A group of Republican state attorneys general, led by Ken Paxton of Texas, are making that same argument in a lawsuit still pending in federal court.

USCIS why are you holding up lawfully filed DACA renewals? Applications have been filed weeks ago and so far not even the checks have been cashed even though according to USPS PriorityMail tracking the applications were received. TrumpReleaseDACA USDHS realDonaldTrump

The Supreme Court did not block the effort- they kicked it b/c of an administrative error... nothing prevents making corrections to the error and going again. DACA cannot be permanent. Chain migration, cannot be the policy. No open borders.

Law and order presidents normally violate Supreme Court rulings, right?

it’s okay, you’ve refused to accept Trump as your President, so you get what you give.

Something else Wm Barr lied about today.

we will change that in 98 days when this clown is out of office. Biden2020

He'll never accept it, because it was one of Obama's successes. Trump has a special room when news like this comes up, to where he can retreat and play with army men and eat spaghettios.

Hmmmm...considering DACA is most likely unconstitutional in the first place...

NPR & MSM & FB & TWOTTER & DEMOPEDS: YOU'RE BUSTED!

The laws of the land doesn’t apply in Trump’s America.

my prediction is that Trump will become a REAL son of a b**** going forward to appeal to his base and go back to what got him elected initially

Why would they start obeying the laws now?

So you’ve got to apply to be on DACA list?!

Laws and court orders mean nothing to the “Law & Order President.” Guess when the time comes, they’ll have to send in several female reporters to ask questions Trump doesn’t want to answer. He seems to run from them pretty quickly. TrumpPressConference CNN Kaitlancollins

Wow! No regard for human life

Great, why would they want to stay in white supremacists nation anyways

Having given the middle finger to Congress over checks and balances, Trump now shows his contempt for the third branch of government...It's all about me me me me me!!! potus GOP Even if the Orange Menace wins, it's straight back to an impeachment trial.

Oh wow, another example of Trump refusing to abide by the SC and the Constitution. What do you think his stance will be towards both come election time?

Bad opinion. It did not 'block' his efforts, merely said the Court shall not undo something Obama did, and if Trump wants to undo it, he can undo it himself. Trump had asked the Court to declare DACA unconstitutional.

Trump administration to reject new DACA applications during 'comprehensive' reviewThe White House&39;s decision comes shortly after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump&39;s efforts to end the DACA program was unconstitutional. Good. Senseless. They don’t try to take on the big bullies of their own size—like big corporations and brutal dictators for example. They’re always after the little helpless people—to make their lives more unbearable!!
