A NSW Supreme Court judge has ruled the rally, planned for inner Sydney on Tuesday, is a prohibited public assembly, but protest organisers are expected to lodge an immediate appeal against the decision | MWhitbourn gmitch_news

A plan submitted to police by organiser Paddy Gibson said an estimated 500 people would walk from Town Hall to Parliament House to present a petition calling for criminal charges against the prison guards who restrained Mr Dungay., which Mr Dungay's family had sought. The rally is planned for Tuesday to coincide with the first sitting day of the NSW lower house.

Ms Graham said protesters would also consult police about moving the protest to the Domain behind NSW Parliament. "Aboriginal people own this land and have owned this land for so many years before it was taken away from us," he said. "We should have the right to peacefully protest to demand justice.”Ms Graham told the court on Friday that police may have caused "more people to turn out than might otherwise be the case" had they not sought a prohibition order.

On Thursday NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard and Treasurer Dominic Perrottet urged protest organisers to reconsider the march amid a growing coronavirus outbreak in Victoria and NSW.Loading

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Allowing this march to go ahead is stupid, irresponsible and dangerous. I hope the court of appeal takes into account of the greater good of not allowing this protest. I also question why all protests are not convened in a open area like a park, and not block roads.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Why aren’t these people working?

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Look at the bigger picture guys!!

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Anyone fined at the march should forfeit any welfare payments they are on for five years.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Let's see if the NSW Police are capable of upholding the law and protecting the health of millions of NSW men, women and children.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Arrest the organisers for inciting a crime and endangering the public. They’re spoiling for a confrontation for the 6pm news.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Next week, nek minnit: QLD Gov declares Sydney CBD a Covid clusterfcuk of a hotspot.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Let's hope the appeal forces the court to come to its senses.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news BLM protesters look like the walking dead when they walk through the city. Brainless covid-19 infected zombies.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Small part of me thinks what a shame that the government looks after people with no idea rather than handing over to their own stupid desire!. Although BLM is political and going by the stats they seem to care more about power then they do about people imho

MWhitbourn gmitch_news So many people have entirely stopped supporting Black lives because of the actions of BlackLivesMatter

MWhitbourn gmitch_news This group of radical marxists do not care about the safety of others. They want the virus to spread, to shut businesses down and crash the economy because they believe it's 'oppressive'

MWhitbourn gmitch_news stupid is as stupid does $1000 fine for each and everyone who shows up and a point in the direction of the nearest bus/train/cab to piss off back home to keep us safe from a 2nd wave of pandemic

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Please call it off, there is great support for your cause but this is not the time.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news After reading BLM's UK website I do not support its cause. Before committing to BLM, Australians should spend an hour reading content on BLM UK site. BLM is not anti-racist. It promotes racism to progress a neo-Maoist agenda, which includes the destruction of the nuclear family.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news As sympathetic as I am to the Black Lives Matter cause, a protest now would have done more harm than good and undermined support. Clearly the right decision.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Given how it has emboldened imbeciles from across the social spectrum - from anti-vaxxers to 5G conspiracy nutters to Jew-baiters to far-right libertarians and so many others - I’m wondering now if Covid-19 causes brain injuries. Natural Selection is an efficient mistress.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Safer.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Throw the organiser Paddy Gibson and other protest leaders in prison if this goes ahead. Enough exploiting Covid to gain public attention for your special interests. Protest all you want when there is a vaccine and you’re not just spreading your disease. auspol

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Black lives don't matter much when it comes to free-dumbs. The Covid virus is spreading like wildfire now through Sydney’s western suburbs where most of our Aboriginal and African citizens live. White supremacists will be snickering when the Black deaths get underway.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Probably a really stupid time to protest but whatever...

MWhitbourn gmitch_news As much as I support the cause, they could take some cues from the climate movement and find safer methods to protest and spread the word. This pandemic is taking lives. We need to stop the spread and public gatherings need to be avoided as much as possible.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Let it rain on their parade . Now is not the time and they will not win anybody over with the scant disregard for public health.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news I am supportive of BLM but rally at this point of time should be banned. I hope the protesters can stay at home on Tuesday

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Those selfish stupid blind fools! Do they seriously think this will win people over to their cause? It won’t. It’ll make people less disposed to support them.

MWhitbourn gmitch_news Now is not the time to protest

MWhitbourn gmitch_news The protesters are not helping their cause by pushing for this. Are they absolutely clueless about what’s happening in Victoria?!?!?!
