The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that federal law protecting workers from discrimination on the basis of sex also applies to gay and transgender people

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday delivered a watershed victory for LGBT rights and a defeat for President Donald Trump’s administration by ruling that a longstanding federal law barring workplace discrimination protects gay and transgender employees.

“The Supreme Court’s historic decision affirms what shouldn’t have even been a debate: LGBTQ Americans should be able to work without fear of losing jobs because of who they are,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, president of the gay rights group GLAAD. Strongly supported by evangelical Christian voters, Trump has taken actions that have undermined gay and transgender rights since taking office in 2017.

The court also ruled in a case that involved a transgender funeral director named Aimee Stephens fired by a Detroit funeral home after revealing plans to transition from male to female. Stephens died in May. Stephens’ wife Donna is now representing the estate.

So bizzarre that this is still a thing. US is so stuck in the past with so many things.

We are in the 21st century, yet it requires a court to guarantee equality to all humans. What a tragedy and what a shame that the Trump administration was on the wrong side of this. They were fighting to protect the right to discriminate. Just think about it.

A sucky day to be a FakeChristian in America. :-)

My son got fired because he was wearing a dress at work. Interesting

Why should this be a big deal? There should not be any discrimination of any American, Black, White, Gay, Straight, Asian, or any other person. This is ONLY news because FAKE NEWS MEDIA makes it a problem, they are divisive in their reporting.

So today SCOTUS once again did the job of SpeakerPelosi MitchMcConnell and we LGBT people are supposed to applaud them and say How Fabulous! No, you don't get credit for finally acting human. Shame on you for the years of LGBT oppression. Shame.

Welcome to the 21st -century, America. We’re 20 years in! Be on the lookout for SARS, coming your way in 2-3 years.

'Congress should reaffirm the Constitution and combat this judicial power grab by reaffirming the original meaning of the Civil Rights Act. Only Congress can amend a law, not the Supreme Court.'
