Lawyer claims trial to insulting modesty of fellow lawyer

Sivaraj Retinasekharan was accused of insulting the modesty of Chong Yin Xin, 35, by uttering foul language at the victim between 11.35pm and 12.20am at Hotel Armada in Petaling Jaya on June 22,2019.

The accused was charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code and faces up to five years in jail or fine or both, if convicted. Lawyer Datuk Suraj Singh, who represented the accused, asked for a gag order on the case as the accused was a lawyer with the National Legal Aid Foundation.He fixed bail at RM3,000 in one surety and ordered the accused not to disturb the victim and witnesses.The case is set for mention on April 6.
