Japanese prosecutors have reportedly put out an arrest warrant for the wife of fugitive former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn

His spokesman has described the arrest warrant for his wife as"pathetic".

"All such speculation is inaccurate and false. I alone arranged for my departure. My family had no role whatsoever."Mr Ghosn, who previously led both Nissan and French car firm Renault, was taken through Istanbul following his departure from Tokyo, apparently by private plane. Mr Ghosn, who is of Lebanese origin and holds French, Lebanese and Brazilian citizenship, said he fled Japan to escape what he called a"rigged" justice system and he wanted to avoid"political persecution".

Mr Ghosn faces four charges back in Japan, including hiding income and enriching himself through payments to car dealerships in the Middle East.Prior to his arrest in November 2018 and subsequent ousting from Japanese firm Nissan, he was seen by many as the most powerful figure in the automotive industry.
