Leaving Neverland: Court rules accusers can sue Michael Jackson companies

Two men who featured in a documentary alleging sexual abuse by the singer Michael Jackson can pursue legal claims against two of his companies, a court has ruled.

Wade Robson and James Safechuck claim they were abused by the singer in the late 80s and early 90s while staying at his Neverland ranch. They described the documentary Leaving Neverland as a"public lynching".A lower court had dismissed lawsuits brought by the two men in 2014 because California's statute of limitations required that claims of childhood sexual abuse be filed before an accuser's 26th birthday.

However a new law, which came into effect on 1 January, extends the timeframe up to a person's 40th birthday.Vince Finaldi, the lawyer for the two men, said in a statement following the ruling:"We are pleased that the Court has recognised the strong protections California has put into place for sexual abuse victims under the state's new law extending the statute of limitations."

Howard Weitzman, a lawyer for Jackson's estate, said:"The Court of Appeal's ruling merely revived lawsuits against Michael Jackson's companies, which absurdly claim that Michael's employees are somehow responsible for sexual abuse that never happened."

Both lying

It has always been about the money. Michael is innocent.

So that sets a president and now victims can sue Jimmy Saville's estate.👍

Sue who. The bloke is dead. Money should never be involved in cases like this. Should just be about justice not money then you will see who the real victims are and who's just trying to get rich.

So i guess that points a guilty finger at Jackson?

Genuine victims want justice. Not cash (unless need therapy paid for or something, but that would be a limited amount) . This just proves to me that these ones weren't genuine.

Sure that was the point of the whole exercise..... always about the money !!!!!

EversFam thriller

Why don’t you just leave him alone... accusers cashing in on him.. get the proof first before you start rubbing your hands.. bloody gold diggers ffs..

Stop manipulating laws the parents more guilty than the assailants himself greed is the motivation these kids should sue their parents

There isn't any hard evidence (I am undecided as to whether it happened but the documentary was testimony rather than proof). He can't defend himself. It takes from his children if they win

here my question: why are they doing it 10 fucking years later after he died? can anyone just GIVE HIM A BREAK AND LET HIM REST IN PIECE PLEASE!!!

*victims

But not until the big hand touches the little hand.

How can he defend himself though?

The man dead leave him be yeh

paul_serran This going to open up the 'Hollywood Pedo Ring'

paul_serran Will open Pandora's Box re: Epstein

The black man has no rest. Even in the grave

This is ridiculous. That documentary is bullshit.

A court is needed to know that? Yayyy ... huh?
