Liberal government says no political involvement in SNC-Lavalin court settlement GlobePolitics

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, seen here in a year-end interview with The Canadian Press in Ottawa on Dec. 18, 2019, defended his conduct while acknowledging he could have handled the SNC-Lavalin file better. The Liberal government says it played no role in the settlement of criminal charges against SNC-Lavalin 10 months after a political scandal over the prosecution of the Montreal engineering giant ensnared Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his inner circle.

“This decision was made independently by the PPSC, as part of their responsibility to continually assess and determine the appropriate path for cases under their jurisdiction,” Mr. Lametti said Wednesday. “Canadians can have confidence that our judicial and legal systems are working as they should.” University of Ottawa law professor Jennifer Quaid said it’s her understanding Wednesday’s court decision does not trigger a federal ban on SNC-Lavalin bidding on contracts because the offence to which its division pleaded guilty – fraud against an entity other than the Crown – is not one of the crimes that would result in such a debarment.

The RCMP would not say Wednesday if they are still examining whether to launch a criminal investigation into obstruction of justice.

globepolitics At this point the saddest part isn't that they are full of BS it's that the minority of Canadians who actually voted to re elect them will swallow that BS whole and ask for seconds

globepolitics No just in the lead up to the court case where the DPA was not used due to Puglaas 's integrity.

'Justice system did its work': Current, former AGs react to SNC-Lavalin guilty pleaFederal Attorney General and Justice Minister David Lametti says the agreement between the Public Prosecution Service of Canada and SNC-Lavalin's legal counsel to have the Quebec-based construction firm plead guilty to a single count of fraud over $5,000 and pay a $280-million fine was 'made independently.' Of course their plea deal was a fine and no admission of guilt for the majority of the company What better way to give SNC Lavalin a deal while at the same time ensuring that no evidence or testimony regarding Trudeau's corruption entered the court Who gets the 280 mil? Amazing what happens when politicians get out of the way and stop interfering eh Trudeau?
