Federal Attorney General and Justice Minister David Lametti says the agreement between the Public Prosecution Service of Canada and SNC-Lavalin's legal counsel to have the Quebec-based construction firm plead guilty to a single count of fraud over $5,000 and pay a $280-million fine was 'made independently.'

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau poses for a photo with David Lametti as he retains the position of Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada during the swearing in of the new cabinet at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019.

“I have long believed in the essential necessity of our judicial system operating as it should—based on the rule of law and prosecutorial independence, and without political interference or pressure,” Wilson-Raybould said Wednesday. Wilson-Raybould said that 2019 began with questions about the rule of law in Canada, and that she is “glad to see it end with that principle being upheld.”Lametti said he was informed about the agreement to resolve the criminal proceedings against SNC-Lavalin on Tuesday, and that “Canadians can have confidence that our judicial and legal systems are working as they should.” Throughout the scandal Trudeau asserted that he and his staff did not act inappropriately.

In a statement, SNC-Lavalin President and Chief Executive Officer, Ian L. Edwards, called the development in the case a “game-changer” and apologized for the past misconduct.

It’s a Canadian tragedy is what this whole affair is. Could you imagine how embolden JustinTrudeau would be right now if he was not exposed for obvious judicial interference. TrudeauWorstPM TrudeauCorruption

You used the wrong letters for DPA, it’s not PLEA.

You people that voted for this have no clue. Let’s just drop the voting age to 6, fuck it

If this was the US he would have been impeached a long time ago

On scapegoat and everybody else skates free. How typical of the liberal Canadian legal system, no justice in sight. Crooks as far as the eye can see

Canada ... A slap on the wrist and Justin Trudeau escapes once again. What a disgrace.

No it did not as you did not get arrested, only then will we have justice

If it worked Trudeau would be wearing handcuffs.

Sure!

NOT! SMH! 😡👎

Oh well aren’t those two cute together 🙃 currupt

Arrogant fools JustinTrudeau DavidLametti

The only one who did anything responsible is JW-R.

Oh yes the justice system worked.....yet Jusdumb still insists he did nothing wrong! Is it just me......

Everyone should consider that 280 million fine, will be easily offset by much Ottawa's Stage 2 LRT project comes in at when done. This company has a history of over budget, never on time projects (see Muskrat Falls and Stage 1 Ottawa LRT as examples). That fine is meaningless.

Look, JT grew up with a father that taught him the 'money gets us out of anything' philosophy, including jail. Justin knows how to manipulate the system. Zero faith in our legal system until he is held accountable!

Bahahaha, that statement was as honest as Trudeau!

So 7000 people are now unemployed?

They managed to protect their buddies in snc, anyone surprised?

No jobs lost and 280 million in the bank.

I wonder if JimWatsonOttawa still feels good about cutting corners in the bidding process that allowed SNC, under the project name TransitNEXT, to win the $663-million Phase2 for LRT in Ottawa? A number that goes to $1.6B with the maintenance agreement, even though the company’s

So in other words, a deal to keep everyone out of jail was made anyway, and Jodi Wilson quit for nothing. Wonder how many extra millions she'd be worth if she stayed on?

Justice system isn’t done it’s work until it investigates Trudeau, Butts, Werner, and Brisson for their part in blocking SNC Lavalin matters. LavScam

Trudeau should be investigated for his teaching job scandal

Boy that’s a quick turnaround from a den of thieves!!

And JustinTrudeau will continue to protect this corruption, I have no doubt cause he is all about corruption

Amazing what happens when politicians get out of the way and stop interfering eh Trudeau?

Who gets the 280 mil?

Of course their plea deal was a fine and no admission of guilt for the majority of the company What better way to give SNC Lavalin a deal while at the same time ensuring that no evidence or testimony regarding Trudeau's corruption entered the court
