Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng.

GEORGE TOWN: The High Court here today postponed the defamation trial by Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim against Lim Guan Eng as the former Penang chief minister would be unable to attend court on the dates originally set.He said Rosilah set Feb 21 to hear Lim’s testimony, which was originally scheduled for today and tomorrow following Azeez’s case set out on Nov 15 and 19.

In his statement of claim filed in March last year, Azeez accused Lim of issuing defamatory statements during a press conference at the chief minister’s office on Feb 18, 2018, and during a Chinese New Year open house celebration hosted by the Penang Development Corporation that same day, connecting Azeez with the payment of RM3 million made by the developer of the undersea tunnel construction project.
