'No threat to bingo halls or bingo nights' under new law, says Taoiseach

However, the Save Our Bingo Facebook campaign group, that organised the protest which included a live game of bingo, said the move will result in the “closure of every bingo hall in Ireland”. “There is no threat to bingo halls or bingo nights,” he said, stating that the legislation sets out that 25% of bingo proceeds must go to charity – which he said bingo operators were meant to be doing all along.

“I can’t see why anyone is against it,” he said, stating it is ensuring that charities get the money they deserve.
