KOTA KINABALU: One man has been charged in court with an offence related to the death of a protected pygmy elephant in Sungai Udin, Dumpas Tawau, and three more will face the same charge on Friday (Nov 15).

Estate operator, Jaifol Liun, 52, was accused of not handing over two elephant tusks to the authorities following the Sept 25 incident.

According to the charge sheet, he committed the offence at about 2am on Oct 2, at the Kg Felda Umas supervisors quarters. The judge set re-mention of the case for Dec 11 at the same court and allowed him a bail RM7,000 with two sureties. He was also ordered to surrender his international passport.
