Fox News contributor Marc Thiessen has claimed 'anti-Catholic bigotry' is afoot, after a recent photo of Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Samuel Alito posing with a hate group leader sparked calls for the pair to recuse themselves in upcoming LGBT court cases.

Host Martha MacCallum asked Thiessen about criticism of the photo, and the letter written by judicial activist Aaron Belkin, which accused the justices of making a"mockery" of the impartiality of the court.

"Look, the fact is, this is a form of anti-Catholic bigotry that has gotten Democrats in trouble earlier," Thiessen told MacCallum. An opinion poll by Pew Research suggests that 70 percent of Catholics believe homosexuality"should be accepted."Thiessen suggested that criticism of the photo is due to anti-Catholic intolerance, rather than the potential conflict of interest posed by Supreme Court justices posing with someone who had filed a brief in the upcoming cases and is also the leader of a confirmed hate group.

"I think there is a Catholic majority on the court. And you had people like Catholic justice—like Anthony Kennedy, who was the deciding vote to create the right to same-sex marriage," said Thiessen."The Pope has basically said that Catholics cannot support the death penalty. Yet, Catholic justices vote all the time to uphold capital cases. So the idea that these justices can't rule because they're Catholic is absurd.

The basis of Thiessen's claim of"anti-Catholic bigotry" appears to rely on the idea that criticizing anti-gay intolerance by religious people makes one an anti-religious bigot.

Is Bigotry vs Catholics include having a Father arrested at a NYC KKK rally in 1927 does it include having your spiritual advisor N V Peale a rabid anti Catholic who told his followers including Trumps not to vote for war hero JFK because of his Faith ? Is that anti Catholic?

So objecting to bigotry is bigotry

As a Catholic I say anti Catholic Bigotry is trying to destroy ACA, having no regard for environment, no plan for reasonable gun control, separating families with no plan to reunufy, embracing atheists like Putin KJU while alienating France UK , lying constantly, corruption.

What about muslims and Jewish folks that do not support marriage equality?

Funny when frauds get bent out of shape over cults and works of fiction.

What about the 100's of Catholic Priests that have to attack kids. Where is the religious Rt outrage about that. hell they even vote for diddlers and other perverts en masse.. Plus the Bible is about how THEY are supposed to live.. Not to tell others how to live. Thats Taliban.

Catholics: homosexuality bad Also Catholics: Homosexual Pedophelia is okay, IF you are a priest

What about 69?

Good, bigotry it shall be, AMEN.😁

Stop reporting Shite

Just because the clergy likes little boys?

Well at least they admit that homophobia is catholic....lol

All bullies are cowards and want to play the victim. religiousfreedom OpusDei Snowflake LGBTQFYI

But ...

I’m a Catholic..... fire away!

Child please!

Kind of like criticizing Obama is racist ?

Fox News is the televisual equivalent of Mad magazine - but without the humour.

The Catholic church lost the privilege of demanding any kind of respect since we all found out about them protecting pedophile priests

This is BS. You chose to be Catholic. You aren’t born a Catholic. So if I criticize a political parties position, am I being a bigot?

marcthiessen since when can a group like the splcenter deem another group a 'hate group'? That's has the same credibility as me calling the washingtonpost a hate group. Doesn't mean shit, does it?

I'm a bigot against boy molesting Catholic priests. (Stained) glass houses.

Figures it's a 'Fox News contributor' who would say that. Let me educate them: it's not Biblical for them to take 'homophobic positions.' God is the judge, not Catholics. I can also educate them on Catholicism too, which is always under fire for incorrect Christian views.

What!!!

Can we just build a wall around the Catholics for gods sake

'It's not all about you' applies to this situation, I think.

Let’s start by saying that homofobia is a made-up term to shut down those that bring in science and knowledge to the discussion.

Superiority complex acted out as discrimination, but why? Lack of understanding ? Fear of what? Not understanding the source of hate

Get over it.

That you Mac?

HILARIOUS!! catholic church, always the real victim!

One does not have to agree with or support someone’s lifestyle or choices, but it is not anyone’s business to judge. Having a “catholic” view does not have to mean homophobic.

Since the Left believes God's Word is homophobic, one would have to agree that the Left hates Catholics who follow God.

More and more every day, I feel like I’m in some alternate universe. Up is down, right is wrong, truths are lies. 😢

They're wrong

their favorite homophobic position is missionary

😂😂😂😂😂

Fox News contributor says criticizing homophobic positions is bigotry against Catholics and criticizing homosexual sexual positions, leveraged by Priests atop alter boys, is even more bigoted against Catholicism.

No bias in that headline at all! Nice journalisming 🤡

Everyone knows Christians are the most persecuted, oppressed people ever. 🙄
