The PKR vice-president says it was more important to determine whether his status was valid or not. FMTNews TianChua ByElection

PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Tian Chua says he is not focused on a by-election in Batu, a day after he won his bid for a court declaration that he had been eligible to contest in the May 9 polls last year.

“The by-election depends on the situation and need. I leave it to my party . My purpose in doing this was to demand justice, not just for myself,” he told FMT when contacted today. The Batu parliamentary seat was won by law student P Prabakaran, who stood as an independent candidate but joined PKR days after winning the seat. His candidacy was endorsed by Pakatan Harapan in Tian Chua’s absence.

“I want to show that institutions like the Election Commission should not be used as a political tool and must follow the law,” he said.
