Updated: Kevin and Linda O'Leary sued for wrongful death by family of boating crash victim

Dragon’s Den star Kevin O’Leary and his wife Linda are being sued for wrongful death by the family of a woman who lost her life in a boating accident the O’Learys were involved in this summer.

In Late September Linda O’Leary was charged by the Ontario Provincial Police with careless operation of a vessel under the Canada Shipping Act. It is not a criminal charge, and she will be fined but not jailed if found guilty. Now Rosa Ragone and Antonio Ragone, mother and father of Susanne Brito, and Paula Brito, the dead woman’s sister, are taking action against the O’Learys over the crash.

“He negligently entrusted his power boat to the defendant, Linda O’Leary, when he knew, or ought to have known, that she was an inexperienced and unsafe driver,” the claim states. “For this grieving family, it is about obtaining civil justice so as to prevent these types of deaths and curtailing reckless and dangerous behaviour from continuing on our lakes,” Brown said in a news release, speaking on behalf of the family.
