NSW Police Minister David Elliott has claimed he "would want" his own underage sons strip-searched if police "felt they were at risk of doing something wrong", as new data shows 122 teenage girls were strip-searched by officers since 2016.
Of those, two were aged 12 and eight were 13, according to records obtained by the Redfern Legal Centre and published inThe data shows that 66 per cent of the almost 4000 strip-searches of women across the four-year period did not find anything. It comes after the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission began an investigation into the alleged illegal strip-search of a 16-year-old girl at last year's Splendour in the Grass festival.The alleged search came after a false positive indication from a sniffer dog, and took place without consent of the teenager's parents or caregivers.

Of course, they haven't always been according to the standard operating procedures and anybody that feels that has been done erroneously has got some reply to that."
