ACT police said the woman was lucky to be alive with the incident something unusual for the capital.

The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday to face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, discharge of firearm endangering life and attempted aggravated robbery using an offensive weapon.

He is accused of shooting a woman on Tuesday morning who was sitting in her parked car on Dominion Circuit, Forrest. The woman, who sustained gunshot and shrapnel wounds, drove to nearby Manuka Oval where she called for help.Security had been bolstered at the oval ahead of the Australia versus Pakistan T20 cricket match on Tuesday night.“As a result of some excellent police work, officers had a person in custody within three hours,” Detective Acting Station Sergeant Simon Coady told reporters on Tuesday.The injured woman drove to nearby Manuka Oval for help.
