Retiring Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio said the 1987 Constitution may be amended so that the President will no longer be the sole authority to appoint justices in the Supreme Court. | DYGalvezINQ

While the Constitution cannot be questioned, Carpio said that the Filipino people could “profit” from the current circumstance and “use that to improve the Constitution next time.”

Meanwhile, Carpio advised the President to consider a candidate’s independence in choosing the next SC chief justice. “I’ve always said that the number one quality should be independence.. Because independence goes to the very core of being a judge,” he said. “A judge has to be impartial and being impartial, you must be your own man, you must be independent,” he added.During his stint, he gave birth to 935 full-blown decisions, 79 dissenting opinions, 30 concurring opinions, 13 separate opinions, and four concurring and dissenting opinions.

DYGalvezINQ bakit nga ba Hindi sa nakikita o sa mga hurado ay kinalawit na NG demonyo Ang ugali NG mga hukom Basta may pera

DYGalvezINQ Nag propose kung kelan magreretiro na.

DodsPrada DYGalvezINQ Good idea Mr. Chief Justice! 👍⚖️👍

DYGalvezINQ Cmon Carpio you knew for a fact that during your candidacy in the Judiciary until you became a ASCJ you never objected on the president's prerogative, and just bec the feeling is mutual between you and Digong, meaning you dont like each other, you're objecting now.

DYGalvezINQ SOUNDS GOOD BUT........do you have the numbers........?

DYGalvezINQ Very sensible. Look at what RRD_Davao has done to the SC. Filling posts with crooks/ incompetents to ensure he can control the country's judiciary. TeamAFP SCPh_PIO TedTe BigManDrilon EdcelLagman kikopangilinan uplawnupl nuplphilippines barrygutierrez3 marvicleonen

DYGalvezINQ Sana nga ma-push! Para ang Chief di nagiging Cheap, at yung mga disassociate 'di maging Associate.

DYGalvezINQ Who made that constitution anyway? Cory and those she appointed to draft the constitution

DYGalvezINQ I agree.

DYGalvezINQ good idea....

DYGalvezINQ run for president...

DYGalvezINQ Dapat dati pa ginawa to!

DYGalvezINQ THE BEST THING TO DO, TO AVOID BIASES!!!

DYGalvezINQ One possibility is an election conducted among (themselves) qualified members of the JBC and/or members of the CA... as long as the president does not have anything to do with their appointment! 🙄

DYGalvezINQ

DYGalvezINQ Brilliant!

DYGalvezINQ Para wala nang 'utang na loob' and 'kasamaan ng loob'. I suggest to clip out exec appointment from the whole Judiciary itself. Kahit sa lower courts, palakasan pa rin ng kapit sa may pwesto para ma-appoint. Kitams ang kulang sa judges sa lower courts now?

DYGalvezINQ bitter?
