A recently released rapist and murderer was among a conga line of people who offered to testify for the prosecution in another long-running murder case, a court hears.

Details of the nature of Bakewell's evidence and his alleged connection with Mr Perre were heard in closed court.since breached his parole four times by consuming drugsParole board chairwoman Frances Nelson QC said Bakewell had multiple sclerosis and cancer and"simply doesn't have the physical capacity to offend".Mr Perre was arrested in March last year and charged with murder and attempted murder.

The same charges were brought against him soon after the attack, but the case was abandoned by the Director of Public Prosecutions a few months later.
