It’s alleged that after attacking the officer, Sharif drove a speeding U-Haul van through Edmonton’s downtown, striking four pedestrians.Nikish says she and her boyfriend, Jacob Prince, were walking several dogs across an intersection when they heard the “vroom” of an engine and saw an officer fly through the air.

She says she ran over to the officer and Prince ran to the driver of the car to see if they were hurt. Nikish says she then heard her boyfriend yell that the driver had a knife, and she saw a man stab the officer.“I ran behind a truck and watched this attack happen.” Chernyk testified Thursday that he was on traffic duty outside an Edmonton Eskimos football game when he was struck by the car. He next remembered a man on top of him, stabbing him with a knife.
