While commissioners all expressed concern at the passage of California's Fair Pay to Play Act earlier this week, some coaches seem to support the new law.

The Pac-12 includes four California universities in its conference: the University of California-Berkeley, the University of California at Los Angeles , Stanford, and the University of Southern California . Because one-third of the conference's member schools are in the state, the impact of the bill could be far-reaching for the Pac-12.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey expressed his worry that California's law would create problems across the country. The last to express his concern was Big 10 commissioner Jim Delany."The student who plays athletics in the Big Ten is in school to receive an education first," Delany said."There's an amazing opportunity to get a world-class education here, and it's an amazing opportunity to compete in a great conference with great recognition." Delany is set to retire in 2020, Minnesota Vikings executive Kevin Warren will replace Delany as head of the conference.

School shooting survivors on Florida's decision to arm classroom teachers: 'It will lead to more dead children'This new law is an extension of the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program, introduced in 2018—a scheme that enables education faculties to arm staff, security guards and now, classroom teachers. If there was an outbreak of Ebola in the US, would the best solution be to infect more people with Ebola? More guns has always worked out well? With the number of guns in the U.S. it should be the safest place on earth. Odds of another school shooting vs odds of accidental discharge, inappropriate use, theft & use, non violent or lethal dispute becoming violent or lethal? You judge. Stupid policy in the service of the gun cult.
