The government is committed to hold accountable policemen who commit abuses in the campaign against illegal drugs, according to a Palace official.

Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo maintained the government does not tolerate any violations of the law committed by law enforcers.

Leahy is among the US senators who pushed for the passage of a bill that will prohibit the entry of Philippine officials involved in the alleged wrongful imprisonment of Senator Leila de Lima. On the country’s human rights situation, Panelo said Leahy only chose to dwell on the negative comments on the US State Department report.
