BOSTON — The former chairman of a global law firm was sentenced Thursday to one month in prison for paying $75,000 to rig his daughter’s ACT exam.
Caplan’s payment was on the upper end for parents who hired admissions consultant William “Rick” Singer to cheat on their children’s college entrance exams. Other parents paid as much as $400,000 to get their children into elite universities as fake athletic recruits. Court documents from prosecutors said Caplan displayed a “staggering disdain for the law” for a lawyer “who has reached the apex of his profession.” They drew attention to a July 2018 phone call in which Caplan discussed the deal with Singer and said he was “not worried about the moral issue.”
indignantTX I thought the white supremacists said you had an average IQ of 200. What 'cha bribing and cheating for?
And the lady who tried to get a better School for her child gets 5 years ... Why ? Because she was Black ...
tonetalks The rich scam & commit real crimes & only get 1 month or 2 weeks. Meanwhile poor people get years just not having making & being poor.
Before you bring the pitchforks out about the amount of time he gets in jail, others involved in the scheme that have already been sentenced received 2 weeks of jail time.
He will never be a lawyer again.
Loses his ability to practice law again as well I’m guessing
