Catholic prelates are hopeful that the next Supreme Court (SC) chief justice will oppose same sex marriage, divorce, and the re-imposition of the death penalty.

Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes said such chief justice would be “perfect” for a Catholic nation such as the Philippines.

Like Bastes, Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco is also praying for a chief justice who would uphold “Christian values.”
