to the internet has been refused bail after a court was told forensic evidence links him to the "elaborate and sophisticated crime".
Police allege Mr Grant accessed the database of property valuation firm LandMark White – for whom he had worked as a contractor for more than a decade – between September 2017 and May 2019.It is alleged he uploaded the personal information of a combined 275,000 people to file-sharing site Scribd and the dark web. Police said the details included names, addresses, contact numbers, email addresses and in some cases driver's licenses.Mr Grant is arrested on Wednesday.
"[There is a] multitude of forensic evidence that ... links Mr Grant and solely Mr Grant to the offences that are before the court," she said.The prosecutor added Mr Grant has contact with security experts overseas and there are "grave concerns" that he could flee the country. "It seems to the court that a full-time custodial sentence is likely upon any conviction," Magistrate Greenwood said.
