Mohamad Afzan Majid from the Damansara Fire and Rescue station said Nazrin’s wife Samirah Muzaffar was standing at the main door of her house when he arrived at their home in Mutiara Damansara with his colleagues.Questioned by DPP Asyhraf Ashy’ari Kamaruzaman, Afzan said there was no reaction at all from Samirah whom he said was not crying or displaying any other form of emotion associated with grief.
“I have put out more than 500 fires, some of which involved loss of life. I have never seen anyone not crying and wailing and not lamenting when a death occurs in a fire, ’’ said the 50-year-old fireman. At this point, he said the woman put up a struggle but he managed to prevent her from entering, adding that she then went downstairs.
Afzan said Samirah first knelt beside Nazrin’s remains and then stood nearby and gazed at his head for about five minutes. Asked by defence counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah if there was a possibility that he did not really notice Samirah’s expression as he was focused on the task at hand, Afzan agreed this could have been the case.
