Edgerton is near unrecognizable in the film; after undergoing a bearded physical transformation, he displayed an impressive chameleonic performance.
The film premiere was raucous thanks to a crowd outside the theater of Chalamet superfans, who erupted into royal fanfare with each sighting of the actor. Chalamet, who wore a black Givenchy suit with a yellow turtleneck, told, “This was an amazing cast to work with. I feel sheepishly grateful to David and Joel….I felt everyone’s support.”

On the role of fashion in the film, the actress told, “Costume, hair, and makeup is always really important when getting into the character. Literally stepping into their shoes helps you get into their physicality and how they look and act.” The cast was joined by the likes of Patti Smith, Jon Hamm, and Kelly Rutherford for the film screening.
After the film premiere the cast and their guests retreated to downtown club the Box, where flowing drinks gave way to tabletop dancing with burlesque performers, aerialists, fire dancers, and a sword swallower. Spotted among the crowd were The Weeknd, Greta Gerwig, Alysia Reiner, and Timo Weiland. Just like their characters in the movie, Chalamet, Depp, and Edgerton were given the royal treatment.
