They are not short sentences if someone gets 5 yrs that will drop to 2 1/2 any time on remand counts plus “good behaviour” time on tag lucky if they do 12 to 18 months that is the problem

Kevyla Since it is proven short prison sentences dont work using alternative methods is a good way forward. This is the path chosen by the Dutch and they are reducing prison capacity while we increase our!

Yes, sending everyone to jail with no thought or proper funding for rehabilitation has really worked so far, (not) difficult choices need to be taken to benefit the long term results and not for populist short term reasons, labour offer grown up choices for grown ups to choose

Good. The court system is currently a disgrace with many dumb volunteer magistrates sending people to jail because they feel like it for these short sentences. Rehabilitation can happen outside prison for non-violent offenders.
