Earlier, we mentioned that documents submitted for the government outlined options if it loses the case.
There are two further options outlined. The court could find that suspension was unlawful and that recalling Parliament before 14 October was the"only option lawfully open to the prime minister".
What will MP's do if they are recalled? Cancel brexit more than likely. Boris was right to suspend Parliament. Brexit *must* be delivered.
Ideally, Boris will get us out of the EU on 31-10-19 and then he, and his entire cabinet, will be held to be in contempt, of parliament, or the courts, or Jim Henson's copyright, and get themselves permanently disbarred from public office. TWO BIRDS ONE STONE!
We know already....
night BBC News chyron spells the legal term of art “judgment” incorrectly.
BBCPolitics Judges, QCs & Solicitors are just human. How many judges needed to a make the right decision? How many courts & appeals? A political decision. This is a major distraction & at the heart of it are remainers, who are contemptuous of democracy & will stop at nothing to block Brexit
It’s never been truer ‘the courts are the first source of refuge for the scoundrel’
Poor Lady Hale if she finds in favour of Bojo next week she will be a Nazi n a white supremacist 😂
Does it matter? The number of days taken to call, hold and then announce the result of the hearing has covered most of the period of the suspension.
Parliament has not been suspended, it has been prorogued. If you don’t know the difference you should not be reporting the news.
Mavis Riley has done well for herself...
I think we know already what the judgement will be?. These SC judges are members of the establishment, an establishment who are hell bent on stopping Brexit. Enough said! Impartial, I think not!. Another establishment stich up coming our way I believe.
The equitable remedy would be a Mandatory Order requiring PM to advise the HM to immediately recall parliament pursuant to Section 1 of Meetings of Partiament Act (1797) Would your counsel agree thatginamiller ?
BBCPolitics Why is the UK Supreme Court so informal? When the ECJ, the Supreme Courts of other nations, are all more formal? And our lower courts are more formal?
It’s purely political as is all government actions. It is also political to challenge prorogation and nothing to do with legal concerns. Be honest. If the judges confirm illegality don’t pretend impartiality.
a riddle inside a puzzle wrapped in an enigma but they'll sort it and give a just judgment, the aftermath is up to us.
So now we eat again 😊
BBCPolitics Out of curiosity I watched 20 minutes from the case during the final statement, and Pannick is an absolute beast of a lawyer, despite which way the ruling goes if I ever wanted a lawyer he would be the one!
WHAT COMES NEXT? No Confidence in Boris; also, Extension for New Deal and/or Peoples' Say, or Revocation of Article 50
Your suggestion reminded me of my visit to Berlin earlier this week. These guys shared your view of voting.
Oh s*hit!! All is not well in eutopia 😒 Now huge pressure will be put on Austria to come into line! Same as pressure put on other 'small' members who didn't tow the line - Ireland, Hungary Is EU an equal trading collective or something else 🤔 Brexit
Common Scotland had done it you to can say yes or no
If Britain had a written constitution we wouldn't be here, why we dont have one is beyond me, it makes the whole law, in regards of this, completely farcical.
It sounds like the lady captain at the golf club thanking the green and catering staff for a wonderfull day!
Go Boris Go come on sock to them.
Just do away with voting. It's corrup to the core as MPs go against democracy
Forgone conclusion - the judiciary are soldiers of the Establishment keeping the proletariat in its place under the jackboot of the rich and powerful.
boris and the 17 1/4m will get the verdict the courts have to respect the will of the people and you know it
How much have Brussels bunged her?
BBCPolitics you take all the time you need Lady Hale.... it’s not like brexit is a national emergency or anything...
Silly of me, but I had no idea they had a Supreme Court.
Dignity and poise.
If the Supreme Court now finds in favour of the remainers after hearing the evidence it has received the high court will effectively have banned prolagtion this will be a very dangerous act by the supreme and will undermine freedom SupremeCourtuk SupremeCourt SupremeCourtLive
BBCPolitics I'm so cynical, I assumed that their verdict would be published on 15th October.
