The camp of detained Sen. Leila de Lima has asked a Muntinlupa court to recall a new pre-trial order it issued that allowed the presentation of new pieces of evidence, saying it would violate her rights as an accused and it will be contrary to the original order.

De Lima attended the trial at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 256 under Judge Gener Gito on Sept. 18 under case 17-167 for conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading filed by the government against her, former Bureau of Corrections director Franklin Bucayu, Wilfredo Elli, prisoner Jaybee Sebastian, Ronnie Dayan, Joenel Sanchez and Jose Adrian Dera, who was arrested last August in Pampanga.

In the new PTO, the court allowed the presentation of new pieces of evidence, including an Anti-Money Laundering Council report on the bank accounts of Dera and other accused and three cell phones confiscated from prisoner Peter Co. Despite the prosecution’s explanation that the new evidence will be used against Dera, De Lima believes that “it is certain that the evidence shall also be presented to prove the alleged guilt of herein Accused, Inevitably prejudicing her rights as a co-accused.”
