The CFMMEU boss hit back at suggestions he tried to intimidate two Centre Alliance senators and Senator Jacqui Lambie to vote against the government’s Ensuring Integrity Bill.
His denial comes after he was heard in expletive-laden leaked audio telling the crossbenchers they would “wear the consequences” for voting for the bill. Despite Mr Setka's attempts to walk back the comments, Centre Alliance’s Rex Patrick referred the audio to the federal police for investigation. Mr Setka – who has refused to resign as CFMMEU boss – has defended his behaviour as nothing more than a campaign tactic.
