British couple arrested on cruise with £1m worth of cocaine blame mystery Jamaican businessman

The OAPs travelled on luxury cruises over two years that cost £18,000 before being arrested but were living on just £885 a month.The retired secretary wrote: "March 12 2019. 16 days. Fly to Havana, Cuba. Cruise to Philipsburg, St Maarten; St John, Antigua and Barbados; Funchal, Madeira; Malaga, Alicante. Approx £4,000."Other court documents show the pensioners accused of cocaine trafficking enjoyed playing bingo, golf and enjoyed eating out with pals.

A Portuguese police report said: "There is no doubt Roger and Susan Clarke had contact with drugs trafficking organisations during two trips in 2017 and another they made in 2018."They were made to South America, to countries which were linked to the transport of cocaine to Europe. Mrs Clarke told cops she only met Lee and his wife Claudette once and that she didn't know her husband's cases had cocaine in them, court documents show.They are expected to deny the charges in Lisbon's central court.Mr and Mrs Clarke were caged in 2010 after being caught trafficking 240 kilos of cannabis resin.
