Johnson, an Arkansas death row inmate who was spared from execution two years ago is asking the state Supreme Court to allow new DNA testing of evidence that his attorneys say could exonerate him.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — An Arkansas death row inmate who was spared from execution two years ago asked the state Supreme Court on Thursday to allow new DNA testing of evidence that his attorneys say could exonerate him.testing requested Johnson’s attorneys say there were major limitations in DNA testing when Johnson was convicted of Heath’s murder. The items they’re seeking to test include the rape kit and a towel found at the scene.

The state, however, argued that the DNA evidence can’t outweigh other evidence that proves Johnson’s guilt and called the request an attempt to continue delaying his execution.

Considering the number of death row inmates who are exonerated due to modern technology, I think this guy deserves a hearing. I do hope it comes out proving your innocence.

Everyone on death row who has not been found guilty by DNA should get a DNA test done. This should be the law of the land till the next best test comes along

They almost murdered this man - Stupid things prosecutors say when they don't want to get caught in prosecutorial misconduct. Flip flopping on DNA use. Always leverage the victim for support until they're released and then what. What is the state going to tell the family then.

If a death row prisoner who is awaiting execution, should not be executed when there is DNA to match , or other irrefutable evedence that could clear him. Eye witness worst evidence

HamiltonRosalie These tests are 50$ bucks and can be bought over the counter easier than Sudafed.. it’s a lot cheaper than keeping these people in jail on out dated evidence .. let them take test ASAP ! We’re paying how much to keep them in jail

Now.. IF DNA DOES IN FACT EXONERATE THIS MAN... OMG.. HOW F***ED UP THIS BE. UNREAL.. THIS . MOST CERTAINLY NEEDS BE DONE.. NOTHING LESS WILL SUFFICE. DO THE DNATEST OMG THIS STATE BETTER PRAY THEY ACTUALLY HAVE HAD RIGHT MAN IN CUSTODY ON DEATHROW THIS WHOLE TIME SAD😥😥

No brainer

What does the state have to lose? Give him the last chance🤷‍♂️

This is the type of request that should never denied someone facing the death penalty.

Interesting. They should allow it.

Order the test
