More than 20 civil societies and organizations in Shan State (North) has issued a statement, calling for an immediate end to the attacks on civilian targets, villages and towns, the violation of human rights and the ongoing fights.

This came after the people suffer the plights due to the fights which have started taking place between the Tatmadaw and the Northern Alliance comprised of the TNLA, the MNDAA and the AA, in Shan State since August 15.

On August 18, a man died due to the heavy shelling in Konesar village in Lashio Township. On August 23, three people were injured in Lwalpal village. On August 26, a man from Pansay village died. On August 17, Tun Myint, chair of Lashio Youth Social Organization died due to the attacks. The humanitarian assistance organization and the CSOs also call for the groups to respect the laws that protect civilians and the international laws on humanitarian and human rights.
