1MDB trial tentatively set to begin next Monday

Despite requests for a delay from both the prosecution and defence, the start date for former prime minister Najib Razak's 1MDB trial has been tentatively set for August 26. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, August 19, 2019.

THE Kuala Lumpur High Court has tentatively set August 26 as the start date for Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia Development Bhd trial, despite requests for a delay from both the prosecution and defence. Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah said he will, however, hear the argument for the trial to begin on September 3, as suggested by senior ad hoc prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram during case management on Thursday.
