Breaking: Can't pay your mortgage? 'Ditch the wagyu beef and finest shiraz', says judge in clearing Westpac

He gave the example of everyone needing to eat, but that different consumers spend different amounts on food depending on their financial circumstances.

Justice Perram said similar issues arose in assessing whether a loan would place someone into financial hardship. "Nor for that matter does knowing that the consumer spends $500 per week on basic food items," he said.

No smashed avocado on toast?

Really? How can I ditch something I don’t imbibe in?

Right. Because stagnant wage growth compared to inflation has NOTHING to do with housing insecurity. 🖕🖕🖕 To that guy.

Stupid Federal Court judgment all missed the point, issue was: BANK LENDED MONEY TO PEOPLE THEY KNOWN CANOT REPAY LOAN. No diferent to drug dealer supply drugs when person can pay what happens after don't care.

As always Federal Court on side of Corporation never serve people. Judges are ass, enjoy high wages and enjoy expencive lunch and whiskey 3 times daily, live in expencive houses fully paid and he has audacity to criticize people that canot pay mortgage.

Thank God for that ruling! Now can banks start lending again please!!

Better yet - don’t have kids. You will save heaps that way

Stop blaming everyone else and take responsibility 'It is proposed that self-responsibility or self-accountability is the quintessential defining attribute to qualify as an adult. To be self-accountable means to be answerable for the obligations and duties you have in your life'

If u can't pay your mortgage at these interest rates. Then quite simply u have r living / lived beyond your means !

When I can't pay my mortgage I don't buy the over priced property in the first place ! WestPac ASIC

Exactly right to many people living champagne life styles on beer wages .....

Of course the bank is innocent, of course

This is the ‘smashed avo’ argument again. It still feels like the top end if town ganging up on the people audacious enough to be poor, like they planned not knowing how to hide funds offshore or exploit others.

Wise words. Might also include the iPhone, exorbitant mobile contract and multiple streaming services.

This is condoning usury! Shame! Government-run bank needed.... ASAP
