Man accused of attempted terrorist attack on mosque in Norwegian capital of Oslo appears in court covered in bruises

The only injury was to a 75-year-old man's eye, after he overpowered a gunman to the ground and held him down until the police arrived."Then I picked the pistol and gun, thrown away. After the attack, police raided Manshaus' house nearby, and found the body of his 17-year-old stepsister.Flowers were left outside the suspect's house in Oslo after his stepsister was found dead

Ms Fries declined to comment on reports her client was"inspired" by the Christchurch mosque attacks in March which killed 50 people. Dagbladet, one the country's largest newspapers, said on the day of the attack that Manshaus wrote online that he had been"chosen" by Brenton Tarrant - the man accused of the attacks in New Zealand.

The name of the Oslo mosque - the al Noor Islamic Centre - is similar to one of the venues attacked in Christchurch in March - the Al Noor mosque. The District Court ruled that the suspect can be held for four weeks, whilst the investigation continues.
