No Orang Asli ancestral land? Perak MB should’ve asked legal advisor first, says Ramkarpal

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu ought to have sought the advice of his state legal advisor before declaring there is no ancestral land for Orang Asli in Perak, said Ramkarpal Singh today.

“There can be no doubt that the Orang Asli have both common law and statutory proprietary rights in the Aborigines Peoples Act 1954, protected by the Federal Constitution which mandates for proper compensation to be made to those with such rights who are evicted from their land,” said the Bukit Gelugor MP in a statement.

“It has also been recognised that state governments have a fiduciary duty to gazette areas which are known to be occupied by the Orang Asli since time immemorial to protect their rights thereon.

That’s where experience counts. The state’s MB selection is a joke. Out of the blue, this guy comes along. And along the way, he struggled and struggled to understand why he is there.

He’s a very busy man. One runs into him many a time in bsc. I’m sure there is important business of state be pursued in this location & other locations of comfort

To solve this issue they must acknowledge there are No Law or Provision for Orang Asli FIRST. SECONDLY, then draft new law and states Constitution amendment - discuss with Sultan Perak before Table it in State Legislative for approval.

ramkarpal should read the States Law and Constitution before opening his mouth. The MB simply stating the fact no such law and provision to give land to orang asli. Regardless what federal law said - land is state matter.

mb is product of illiteracy !

Talks like a fool. Looks like a fool.

What a bloody joke! An MB making this mistake. Shows he wasn't paying attention to his History teacher in school. What a moron. Sigh!

ramkarpal Indeed. Simply making a statement without thinking is called shooting at the leg. What's wrong with MB Perak to issue such a statement ?
