A newly released annual United Nations report titled, Children and Armed Conflict highlights how wars continue to devastate the lives of children in conflict zones.children were killed and injured in armed conflicts last year, a record number, with Afghanistan, Yemen, Palestine and Syria topping the casualty list.

These included the recruitment and use of youngsters by combatants, sexual violence, abductions, attacks on schools and hospitals. They pointed out that the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen remained on the list of parties that have put in place measures to protect children, despite the rise in child casualties.
