The musician, born Rakim Mayers, pleaded not guilty to assault over a fight that broke out in Stockholm on June 30. Swedish prosecutor Daniel Suneson told the court on Tuesday that Mayers and two other accused attacked the alleged 19-year-old victim by punching, kicking and hitting him with a bottle,. The court was also shown 13 minutes of surveillance footage from a fast food restaurant that showed the lead up to the fight, Suneson said. A video appearing to show the 30-year-old assaulting the alleged victim had circulated online.

Mayers’ lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, told the court on Tuesday:"He admits that he threw the plaintiff on the ground, that he stepped on his arm and punched or pushed his shoulder." AFP
