BREAKING: A man jailed for murder during Victoria's gangland wars will walk free from jail after his conviction was quashed following the Lawyer X scandal.

Mr Orman’s murder conviction was set aside this morning in the Victorian Court of Appeal, 12 years after he was jailed over the slaying of fellow underworld figure Victor Pierce.

Family and friends who were earlier forced to wait outside the courtoom streamed inside. They hugged Mr Orman who told them “I love you all”.His was the most progressed appeal case linked to Victoria’s “Lawyer X” scandal and could pave the way for other criminals to have their convictions and prison terms overturned.

He has served 12 years of a minimum 14 years behind bars for the murder of underworld figure Pierce but was granted an appeal because of Ms Gobbo’s connection to his conviction.
