The standoff between Pravin Gordhan and Busisiwe Mkhwebane played out in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday when top legal minds argued over whether her suggestion that he be disciplined should be suspended.

The court heard an application by the public enterprises minister who is seeking to interdict the implementation of a number of remedial actions by the public protector, pending the review application into the report on the “rogue unit” at the South African Revenue Service.
